REGISTERING TO VOTE
In order to register to vote you must meet all of the following requirements:

A United States Citizen
A resident of Massachusetts
18 years old on or before the next election.

You may register to vote in person at any of the following places and state agencies:

any registration event
any local election office
Registry of Motor Vehicles
AFDC
WIC
Medical Assistance Program
Commission for the Blind
Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission
Department of Mental Health
Department of Mental Retardation
Secretary of the Commonwealth


TO REGISTER BY MAIL

If you prefer to register by mail, you can call the Registrar's Office at (781) 393-2491, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday between 8:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M., Wednesdays between 8:30 A.M. and 7:30 P.M., and Fridays between 8:30 A.M. and 12:30 P.M. and request a voter registration affidavit be sent to you. Complete and sign, place a first class stamp in the upper right hand corner and drop the form into any US Postal box. Within a few weeks you will receive an acknowledgement notice stating that your registration has been entered into the system and telling you where to vote. As long as you answer your annual census, which is sent in January you will remain registered. You must notify the Office when you move within the City of Medford.



VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

If you will be absent from the city during the hours the polls are open, or physical disability prevents you from going tot he polls you may choose to vote by absentee ballot.
You must first apply to vote absentee. Simply call (781) 393-2491, or drop us a request and an application will be mailed to you. Complete and mail it back answering all the questions so that it will reach us in time for a ballot to be sent to you and returned to City Hall before the polls close. The last time a person can make applications is noontime the day before the election.
